Prayer in Revival

“And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” – Luke 22:44

What is Prayer? Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the soul to God in the name of Christ for what God hath promised (Prov. 15:8; Jer. 31:18-19; Ps. 42:2-5; John 14:13, 14; 1 John 5:14).

“There is no substitute for prayer.” says Andrian Rogers. We cannot substitute preaching, singing, witnessing, dancing and organizing for prayers. Of course, these things and many others left out are good BUT cannot be substitute for prayers. Prayer is the greatest weapon in the world – Prayer move God and God moves in and through prayer. A geart teacher of God’s word without a solid prayer life is nothing but a morsel of bread to the demons of hell – Prayer is the shield God puts in the believer’s hand to block all the deadly missiles fired daily from the batteries of hell (Psa. 42:2-5; Prov. 15:8, Jer. 31:18, Eph. 6:12-18). Sin is a great hinderance to true prayer, because “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” (Psa. 66:18, 1 John 1:7-9).

Prayer – fervent prayer (James 5:16b) is the incubator that breeds revival. We cannot be much of God if we’re not much with God (Psa. 91:1, Mark 1:35). You cannot do without prayer and there’s no revival where there’s no praying men and women.

The pastor that can get his members to praying fervently, continually has begun a revival already – it’s only a matter of time, and the HOLY GHOST REVIVAL will BURST OUT! The word of God that brings revival is such that are ‘cooked’ and ‘well done’ in prayer, such words breaks the heart of even Satan’s cast-away. Apostle David Jebba (General Overseer of The Living Truth Church, Nigeria) once said, ”Prayer-bath yourself!” (Gen. 32:24-32; Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12).

If you want revival, (not just a denominational but a worldwide revival), one that would turn the world upside down (Acts 17:6b) for Jesus, then you MUST soak and wash yourselves in the Spirit of prayer and supplication (Eph. 6:18, Phil. 4:8) and return with radiant contenance like Moses, The Great Intercessor (Exo. 34:33-35; Luke 9:29; 2 Cor. 3:18).

Let’s get desperate in praying for revival, like Rechael who, with weeping and fervency, I suppose, cried, “…give me children or else I die.” (Gen. 30:1) and knock hard on Heaven’s door for a world shaking revival in the Body of Chrsit. Prayer is the key that unlocks Heaven’s door for revival. – Oh, may God give us men like John Knox who will pray, ‘O God, give me Scotland or I die.’ That’s the kind of prayer that moves God to change His mind (James 5:16-17).

There’s no free revival! It must be paid for – the disciples tarried, to carry power – a mighty fervent, Spirit-filled prayer is the only currency recognized for the release of true revival. Brethen, Dear reader, let’s at once rise up and be driven to the plcae of prayer, let us keep the fire burning continually on the altar (Lev. 6:13). Awake, awake! Prayer is the key, Jesus started with prayer and ended with praying, prayer is the Master key that unlock the door of true revival.

Oh, that God through this study make someone’s dry eyes flow with tears again, someone’s harden heart to be soften again, that our teenagers and youth would once again awake and like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego quench the flames of the end tine fire of worldliness. Like Daniel stop the mouths of the lions of immorality and fornication plaguing them (Ezek. 36:25-27; Dan. 3:1-30; 6:17, 20, 22).

Conclusion:
The secret of praying is praying in the secret. Enouh of our slumber, for “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” No man is greater than his prayer life, much prayer, much (true) revival, little prayer, little (false) revival, no prayer, no revival. Let’s pray!

“The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, BUT trembles when we pray.” – Samuel Chadwick
